fter studying jazz guitar at the University of New Orleans, Eric Penrod toured the United States for seven years with the pop-funk band “Skinny”. While touring Eric landed opening spots with Dave Matthews band, Robert Randolph Band, The Roots and George Clinton and the P funk All-stars. Eric was also the lead guitarist for Grammy award winning keyboardist/ vocalist Billy Beck of the “Ohio Players” for the past two years. Now off the road and based in Charleston, SC, Eric has focused his musical energy to his solo project, The Eric Penrod Group. Eric’s new music is a blend of jazz, blues, and New Orleans funk. With relaxing jazz guitar licks and vocals reminiscent of crooners such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and the more recent Harry Connick Jr. Eric’s music is perfect for fine dining and cocktail hour settings. Mixing standards and originals, Eric Penrod is one of Charleston’s premier jazz artists.
